BALLET
Ballet serves as a backbone for many other styles of dance, as many other dance genres are based on ballet. Ballet dancing is known for its grace and elegance, as ballerinas seem to glide across the stage almost effortlessly. We offer graded levels of ballet based on the dancers age, physical development, and training. The younger classes emphasize basic ballet skills as well as Stretch, Strengthening, Body Awareness, Posture, Coordination, Ballet Terminology, and Group Activities. These skills are built, developed, and added to through levels of training. The continued training of ballet at the early impressionable years are the most valuable.
TAP
All American Tap is taught at ON MY TOES. Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats. Tappers use their arms and upper bodies to blend movements of ballet or jazz into their tap routines. As the Rhythm and Styles of Tap become assimilated the students are taken from beginner to more advanced levels. Benefits of tap dance include increasing cardiovascular conditioning, strength, flexibility and coordination.
JAZZ
A Jazz Dance Class teaches proper body alignment, coordination, and retention of movement. The focus and objectives of a jazz class are Strength and Flexibility, Locomotive Movement Combinations, and Specialized Technical Combinations. As dancers become more advanced, Jazz classes offer the opportunity to showcase a dancer's individual style and originality. Jazz dancing is energetic and fun, consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns.
HIP-HOP
Today’s Hot Urban Style of Jazz concentrates on clean, sharp movements along with traditional jazz technique. Hip hop developed from several cultures, including jazz, rock, tap and American and Latino cultures. This street style jazz is seen in the choreography used in today’s popular music videos. Jazz training is helpful but not necessary. Hip Hop is a very energetic form of dancing. It is unique in that it allows its dancers to perform with freedom of movement, adding in their own personalities. Register Early for this class- the popularity is amazing and classes fill up.
MODERN
Modern dance could be thought of as the rebel of the dance world. This innovative dance form was born in the early 20th century out of a desire to express and create by dancers weary of the confining, strict nature of classical ballet. Modern dance movements can be free and fluid or quick and abstract, but always expressive and soul felt.
